Q. Are all First Needs staff subjected to an enhanced
disclosure prior to their first placement?
A. Yes, all of First Needs
staff are subject to an enhanced disclosure prior to commencing work. They are also checked against the registers
for the protection of adults and children (POVA & POCA).
Q. Do you employ care staff who do not have any previous
care experience?
A. No.
Q. Are You registered with the Commission for Social
Care Inspection?
A. Yes we are registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection. Our
inspector is called Tim Inkson. Our inspection report can be found at www.csci.org.uk
Q. What is you policy on obtaining references for your potential employees?
A. All applicants are required
to provide us with the names and addresses of two professional referees one of which must be their previous employer. We do
not accept open references. Both references have to be returned before an agency worker can be placed.
Q. How and when do you ensure the registration status of Qualified Nurses?
A. All Registered Nurses are
checked against the NMC Register before they can be place in a professional capacity. They are then checked every six weeks
for the duration of their employment.
For Employees
Q. I do not have any experience of working in the care field other than looking after a relative with
physical and mental disabilities, could I be considered for a position at First Needs?
A. Yes, in some circumstances we would consider
applications for employment from candidates with limited experience however, you would have to complete an extensive induction
course first along with all other relevent training courses. You may have to work alongside a more experienced carer to begin
with.
Q. I have a disclosure from my previous employer. Is this acceptable
for use with First Needs?
A. No, from 26th July 2004 disclosures became
non transferable. You would have to apply for a new one.
Q.
If I get a job with First Needs, will I have to wear a uniform?
A. We have a very varied customer base, most
of which require you to wear uniform. If you do not want to wear a uniform, we would be very limited as to where we
could place you.
Q. I would like to work for an agency but I do not drive, would
this be possible?
A. Yes, you may work for an agency if you do
not drive however, you would be limited as to where and how far you could travel. You would have to have a good knowledge
of public transport and its reliability.
Q. I already have a part time job, could I work for First Needs
in my spare time?
A. Yes it is possible for you to work for First
Needs as well as another employer. You would however be subject to a higher rate of income tax.
